Fabulous image of a male Mistletoebird photographed at Thala by one of our guests James Lacy at the end of August 2010. This bird is found all over Australia and it feeds on Mistletoe (not the Christmas variety)! They are rarely photographed as they are usually constantly on the move, and at a rapid rate!
When the Mistletoe bird eats and passes the Mistletoe berries the seeds are sticky and can stick to the branch of a tree and sprout – which helps to spread the Mistletoe.
We feel very lucky to have this pic, thanks James!
